EMS Bikes

Bicycles provide rapid access to areas that are not always accessible by ambulances. Many departments use mountain bikes as EASV’s in order to provide rapid first response services at mass gatherings or in remote areas.
Bicycles can carry communication equipment, warning devices, and equipment including oxygen, defibrillators, ALS and BLS supplies; allowing providers to initiate care until the arrival of an ambulance or first response vehicle capable of transporting. Bicycles allow providers to move amongst large crowds with minimal disturbance and with lessened risk of injury to bystanders. There is also a public relations advantage seeing EMS providers in the community in a manner other than inside an ambulance.
